USPS closing Thursday Jan 9th 2025 for the National Day of Observance
Is Amazon making ajustments for this last second closure?
USPS Temporary Service Suspension, January 9th
On Thursday, January 9th, USPS will suspend mail deliveries and pickups, retail services, and administrative office activity for the National Day of Observance. There will be some limited package delivery to prevent impacts. Regular operations will resume Friday, January 10th.

Nope. I (and others) have already gotten orders with a "Ship By" date of Jan 9. A mod previously stated that if you were worried about metrics due to Amazon being incapable of handling something so basic and punishing us for their incompetence to put your store on vacation and give up making money for a few days (okay, I'm paraphrasing, but the basic gist was that Amazon would do nothing, other than punish us for late shipments for anything not shipped on Thursday).
Oh, and notice was given over a week in advance; hardly "last second" for any competent tech savvy business.

I got an email last night saying they are taking the steps necessary for the 9th and that handling for 1 day sellers will be pushed down a day.

I am getting orders that need to ship on Jan 9th still. I hate to have to vaca mode but looks like that is going to be the case. I cannot ship most items UPS, too expensive!

Thank you for your questions about this Thursday's Day of Remembrance/Observance and the associated USPS closure. I shared this and related threads with our partner teams and will follow up with any additional information. Please note that other non-USPS shipping services will be available for shipping as usual.
National Day of Mourning is January 9th

Amazon should just allow all USPS packages marked as shipped on the 9th be delivered to USPS on the 10th and still cover the seller for ODR and INR

That's complete garbage! There are many holidays throughout the year USPS closes while FedEx/UPS do not and Amazon moves the handling day over to the next business day.
This so-called "Partner Team" has no idea what they are doing. Time and time again nothing but headaches for us sellers because they keep dropping the ball. What contractor are you using (Or where) that they are this incompetent? No other platform suffers from these issues.
On top of all that, my delivery dates are way off showing over a week to deliver within my own state. The sales have been in the toilet since the customer thinks it will take them a week to get stuff. This is complete trash.

Hello @Seller_gatjkdfPmzT4O I see that we discussed this in your earlier forums thread: Delivery Dates On Listing Longer Than Orders.
To ensure a positive customer experience, we recommend that sellers maintain an OTDR of 95% or higher for all seller-fulfilled orders. If a seller's OTDR without promise extensions consistently falls below 95%, Amazon may add promise extensions to reflect a more accurate delivery date for customers.

Other shipping services are far too expensive for shipments that require USPS shipping. Those who use USPS shipping, especially when you are told that even USPS shipping is too expensive by Amazon MUST use it and not UPS or FEDex which is often twice the cost. Items that are under 10.00 MUST go USPS. This is why all your comments are getting only down votes.

Well now when I process the orders, I have most locations set to 3-5 days for delivery with 1 day handling, the USPS estimates in Buy Shipping are showing 3 to 4 days earlier expected than what's showing on my page since you all have added at least 3 days to my customer facing estimates. You all need to fix this ASAP since the customers thinking it takes way longer than it will for them to get the merchandise.

Delivery Dates On Listing Longer Than Orders
Hello @Seller_gatjkdfPmzT4O. I provided information about promise extensions in your earlier thread, which I linked above.
Frequently asked questions about on-time delivery rate (OTDR)
Our OTDR FAQ states "To help provide a positive customer experience, we recommend that you maintain a 95% or greater OTDR for all seller-fulfilled orders." If your OTDR without promise extensions consistently falls below 95%, Amazon may add promise extensions to reflect a more accurate delivery date for customers.

You have to make an adjustment for USPS packages. this is just like any other USPS holiday. Amazon needs to start treating it sellers more like a customer instead of crap
Seller_gatjkdfPmzT4O
It's saying it's going to take a week to get to someone in my own state! That is absolutely ridiculous. You are stealing sales away from FBM sellers by punishing them because of USPS and other carriers faults. It's NOT our fault if USPS has a delay.
And you count OTDR against ALL ITEMS in a shipment so if it's 10 items we get hit with 10 negative points. While VoC you count the whole order against the listing so if someone orders 100 items in an order and returns 1 back as defective it still counts as 1 order not 100 items even though the other 99 are okay.
Both systems are completely designed to harm FBM sellers on purpose and you can't give any logical explanation or excuse for it because there is not one that exists.

Hi @KJ_Amazon,
You said "If a seller's OTDR without promise extensions consistently falls below 95%, Amazon may add promise extensions to reflect a more accurate delivery date for customers." Where can I find that in a help article? I checked the Order Performance program policy page and it only says "For a great customer experience, we recommend that you maintain a 95% or greater OTDR for all seller-fulfilled orders." It also says Amazon will only take an action if the OTDR falls below 90%. Source: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/GGJVNFDXQT8C3RA8

They deserve it! After taking 3-4 weeks delivering everything late. Oh and stuff that STILL has not been delivered that was shipped mid-december, they need some time off! Great idea!

Today the mailman showed up at 8 PM. I think it's their new record, I think maybe 5 or so was their previous. It was pitch dark outside. I was 100% sure that that local USPS skipped mail pickup, but nope. I guess they just had extra work, because of yesterday's day-off. :-o

Amazon did not care. Usual response was to use UPS or FedEx at a cost higher than the entire purchase prices of the items that always ship Ground Advantage.. Rather than just do their jobs and change their garbage tech to reflect the day's closing they decided to screw over their sellers.
Just another huge Amazon "we don't care" to their sellers.
Good job Amazon. Keep the whip to our backs!
