Amazon.com and 3P sellers

We've been selling known brand products for 7-8 years and growing -- however the end of the last year/beginning of this year -- we are seeing reduced sales and an increase in "Amazon.com" selling the same products for lower product prices with free Prime shipping.

Amazon is now aggressively becoming a retailer of the same known brand products and started to gate some of the approved brands we've been selling and were authorized to sell on Amazon.com by the manufacturer--no amount of proof we provide is thrown away--which many are aware of.

Amazon.com is supposed to be a "Marketplace platform" and not compete with 3P sellers and yet there is nothing we can do about it.

And still we keep getting requests from Amazon Account Managers to expand with the same products into Europe, Middle East, Australia because there are not enough sellers for the same brands.

In summary -- make hay while the sun shines.

Just a couple thoughts and a question or two.

Amazon has been aggressively selling brand names for a LONG time. In my 15 years (about) on here they have been my biggest and lowest priced competition since the day I started.

In addition, many companies are taking control of their brands and are restricting sales on Amazon and other sites.

Are you authorized IN WRITING by the BRANDS that you have been selling to sell their items on Amazon? That means from the BRAND, not some random wholesale source that can NOT authorize anything – they only SELL.

More and more brands have provided a "whitelist" of their approved sellers and if YOU are NOT on the list you will be stopped in your tracks and probably hit with an IP violation.

And, yes, it can also be just Amazon but generally it is the BRAND.

And finally, where on earth did you get the impression that 'Amazon.com is supposed to be a "Marketplace platform" and not compete with 3P sellers'.

THAT is eBay, not Amazon -- and eBay has MUCH better protection for sellers than here and lots of times the fees are lower as well.

You ARE however correct about 'there is nothing we can do about it.'
