Please HELP: Facing Button Cell Battery Compliance Issue: Difficulty with Cell Battery Compliance for Products Without Batteries

I'm reaching out for help with a cell battery compliance issue. Our products are LED light signs and use remotes with compartments for cell batteries. However, we do not include cell batteries with our shipments. Customers need to purchase them separately.

In April, Amazon flagged 3,120 of our ASINs for cell battery compliance. We submitted the requested documents, including test reports, GCCs, and product photos with warning labels. Unfortunately, all our appeals were rejected.

Our concern is that the compliance requirements seem inapplicable to our situation. The appeal instructions and photo requirements appear to be for products that include batteries. We've tried explaining this by selecting the "policy doesn't apply" option during appeal, but these appeals were immediately rejected because "the product has characteristics of Product Containing Button/Coin Battery"

For example, the instructions say to include a photo with a label stating "INGESTION HAZARD: This product contains a button or coin cell battery." Since we don't include batteries, it wouldn't be accurate to show this label. Following these instructions seems to prevent a successful appeal.

Another challenge is the requirement for matching product images in test reports with the detail page images. While our 3,120 ASINs have different engraved designs, the signs themselves are identical. The compliance team keeps rejecting appeals for this reason, making it impossible to move forward.

We've contacted Seller Support and Account Health, but they advise contacting the compliance team, who keeps rejecting our appeals with irrelevant requirements.

Questions:

1 Can someone from Amazon review our cases (case IDs listed below)? I only try appeal part of the ASINs as I am not able to do all in once but the rejection clearly means that I won't have any chance to be successful under this appeal instructions.

2. Would removing the flagged ASINs improve our account health score? My score drops 4 points in every few days, it really a great pressure. This is the last resort if there is no workable solution on it.

3. Is there a way to appeal that accurately reflects our situation other than submit appeal case by case?

We want to comply with Amazon's policies, but the current process lacks clear and workable solutions for our situation. We're willing to provide the necessary documents, but the current appeal system doesn't seem designed for products like ours. Our account health score is dropping daily, and we're facing potential suspension due to this unsolvable issue. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @Seller_4LNAzA1Iq0SJg

Thank you for the information provided regarding the situation that has been occurring.

"were immediately rejected because "the product has characteristics of Product Containing Button/Coin Battery""

"Can someone from Amazon review our cases"

We do not have full visibility into these case IDs as they are with our compliance team. However, we did review the ASINs associated and did identify several product images that include the coin battery.

While the image does state that it is not included, this could be causing the rejection as it is a characteristic of a coin battery. Would you be able to remove these images or provide updated ones without the battery?

"Would removing the flagged ASINs improve our account health score?"

Are they showing as violations on the account health page? The account health rating would not be impacted by a compliance request.

If you are seeing a loss of four points, this could be previously granted points dropping from the metric. The metric will fluctuate based off overall order volume over the previous 180 days.

"Is there a way to appeal that accurately reflects our situation other than submit appeal case by case?"

The case is the best way to provide the information and details that need to be reviewed. We encourage you to continue to utilize the path provided to ensure the information is sent to the appropriate teams.

We will continue to monitor the information associated and do encourage you to continue to provide your updates here for support.

Best,

Atlas

@Atlas_Amazon

Thank you for your response. Once I replace those images without the coin battery, should I submit the appeal using the "This requirement does not apply to my product" option?

Regarding the health score issue, I’ve noticed that it has never dropped so significantly, even during months with lower sales. Is there a way to check the exact reason for this decline? I don't have any other violations besides this compliance issue with our account.

Even if you do not include the batteries with the product (or the remote control in your case), the testing and warning labels are still required if they use coin/button cell batteries regardless if you include them or not.

You stated that you have the test reports (for UL 4200A), GCCs and product images with warning labels that you submitted and were not approved. Did compliancy state any specific reason(s) why your documents were not approved?

You also stated that your appeals were denied.

Did you submit the documents and images or did you only appeal the compliancy requirements?

We have also had our products removed and we have provided all requested documentation along with detail page photos matching. The team continues to deny it because the battery unit is a small part of our overall product and they are confused the testing doc only shows the small unit. For two of the products they have been reviewing the case for 6 days. Not sure what to do but continue to call them everyday to try and get them to review.
