Listings Lounge: This sounds familiar! Common Acronyms seen in the Create and Manage Listings Category
Hello all!
For newcomers to the Amazon Seller Forums, the array of industry-specific acronyms tossed around can seem like a bewildering alphabet soup. But fear not - I've compiled a handy reference guide to decipher this shorthand lexicon, making it easier for novice sellers to navigate the lingo across Amazon and within these very forums:
- API - Application Programming Interface: A way for systems to communicate and exchange data with each other programmatically.
- ASIN - Amazon Standard Identification Number: This is the unique product identifier assigned by Amazon for each product listing.
- BTG - Browse Tree Guide: The product taxonomy Amazon uses to categorize and organize products on the site.
- FBA - Fullfillment By Amazon: This refers to the Amazon service where Amazon handles the storage, packaging, and shipping of your products.
- FOE - Featured Offer Eligibility: This determines if a seller's offer qualifies to be featured on the product detail page.
- FSA / HSA - Flexible Spending Account / Health Savings Account: For a product to be FSA/HSA eligible, it must fit within the guidelines provided by the IRS (508C IRS Code Section 213(d)) and be identified by the Special Interest Group for Inventory Standards (SIGIS) that interprets these IRS guidelines.
- GTIN - Global Trade Item Number: This is a standardized product identifier like UPC, EAN, or ISBN that helps identify products globally.
- MAP - Minimum Advertised Price: The lowest price a seller is allowed to advertise a product for.
- MFN/FBM - Merchant Fulfilled Network / Fulfilled by Merchant: This means the seller is responsible for storing, packaging, and shipping the products themselves rather than using FBA.
- SKU - Stock Keeping Unit: A unique identifier for each variation of a product that a seller tracks inventory for.
- SPN - Service Provider Network: Amazon's network of third-party service providers that sellers can utilize.
- UPC - Universal Product Code: A 12-digit barcode number that uniquely identifies a product.
