Reflecting on 2024, while we are grateful for the platform Amazon provides and the opportunities it offers, there were a few challenges that stood out, and we'd like to bring these to your attention:
1. Increase in Scammers and Fraudulent Buyers:
One of the major challenges we faced was the significant increase in scammers and fraudulent buyers. Unfortunately, despite providing substantial evidence in many cases, Amazon's system often sided with the buyers. This not only caused financial losses but also created a sense of unfairness, as sellers were left to bear the high costs of such cases.
2. High SAFE-T Claim Denial Rate:
Another critical issue is the handling of SAFE-T claims. Approximately 90% of our claims were denied with a generic response citing "recent history and pattern of your SAFE-T claims and per the terms of the SAFE-T policy." This lack of transparency and support made it extremely difficult to recover losses, even in cases where the buyer's intent was clearly fraudulent. It feels as though Amazon automatically sides with the customer, regardless of their trustworthiness, leaving sellers feeling undervalued and unfairly treated.
We understand the importance of protecting customers, but it’s equally vital to support and protect sellers who are the backbone of the platform. We hope Amazon can implement stricter measures to combat fraud, ensure claims are handled fairly, and balance the rights of both sellers and buyers in 2025.
