Wooden box/crate for shipping instead of cardboard box

Hello,

I have a heavy product

that I want to start selling through Amazon FBA. Due to its weight, I am considering using wooden crates for packaging instead of standard cardboard boxes. similar to the picture shown but with a lid, of course.

Can anyone confirm if Amazon FBA will accept and ship products packaged in wooden boxes? Are there any specific guidelines or approvals required for using such packaging?

Hi @Seller_11RxaQPW2VEk0,

Dominic from Amazon here, this would not be possible. This help page, Shipping and routing requirements, has a ton of info on making sure your shipment is properly packaged and sent to Amazon.

Acceptable standard boxes:

  • Regular slotted carton (RSC)
  • B flute
  • ECT-32 (edge crush test)
  • 200 lb./sq. inch (burst strength)

Use a minimum of 2 inches of appropriate packing material around each item and the same amount in between your products and the walls of the box. If your items are being shipped in the manufacturer's case pack, the 2 inches of packing material is not necessary.

Best,

Dominic
