Approval to sell used books

Hello, I just opened an account a few days ago, in an attempt to sell used books. I have seen a few discussions about approval for books, but I'm unsure if they answer my questions. If they do, my apologies. In an attempt to list the books I got several messages such as "You need approval to list in the books category". and that they are not accepting applications at this time. I got that message for every book I searched for. My questions are:

1. If I do not see an "Apply for approval" or something of that sort, does it mean that I can not sell THAT book in particular or books overall?

2. When they do start retaking applications, will I be notified that they are now taking applications or is it a case where I will have to keep checking if I can apply for approval?

I hope someone will see this and assist soon because I have already spent $39.99 in an attempt to do something that I currently cannot do.

1) There is not a blanket approval to sell books, it is on a publisher by publisher basis.

2) You will not be notified of any change.

3) Until you figure out if this is going to work, I'd suggest downgrading your account to individual to avoid the monthly fee.

Amazon seems to be cutting down on used book sellers. New sellers don't seem to get approved as easily as some of us old timers.

Best of luck to you.

Hello @Seller_qi9ZaE7fl1gJD. @Seller_kNAboD6kRgVt7 provided you with good information about listing items.

To determine whether you are qualified to sell a product, you can check the individual listing information through your Seller Central account by following these steps:

  1. In Seller Central, click the Inventory drop-down menu and select Add a Product.
  2. Search for the product you want to sell.
  3. In the search results, click the link Listing limitations apply to the right of the product.
  4. If the Request Approval button appears, click the button to begin the application process. If the Request Approval button does not appear, we are not accepting applications to sell this product at this time.

If you would like to downgrade to an individual selling plan, please check the below help page. If you have not used any Pro tools, you can also request a refund of any paid fees.
