[US Marketplace] Amazon SELLER Changing Items to the Wrong Category to get #1 Best Seller Badge Intentionally

Hi,

I encountered the same abusing act described in this thread:

Basically the seller is intentionally mis-categorizing their product in a niche category to obtain the best seller badge

Complaint ID: 16947567211 & 16947722161 (there are 2 abusive listings)

(The ASINs were ranking 2nd and 3rd at the time of the report, but are now 1st and 3rd, meaning they've gained best seller badge)

(For anonymity I would not disclose the ASIN here, but let me know if it helps)

However, I received an email for 16947567211 not long after, that "We investigated the issue that you brought to our attention and took appropriate action.", yet their listings are still active under the wrong category.

I took a look at the listings under this seller, and found more listings intentionally mis-categorized, then reported in Complaint id 16950485311, 16950362251

Update:

Looks like the reported ASIN switched categories. However there are two more, so I reported again with complaint id: 16960020871

cc @Glenn_Amazon - this has been happening more often lately in the category that I'm selling.

Michelle here! I have looked into complaint ID's and see that the ASIN's are no longer active on the site as they are currently unavailable and don't have any badges. When you report these types of issues, include all ASIN's (up to 10 per report) and include the other sellers account ID. You can locate that by going into their name on the listing, then in the URL it will show 'seller=' the account ID starts with an A. This will help find the sellers that are violating if they stop selling before an investigation takes place, so that we can the sellers contributions. I do see that they did investigate the seller you reported, however, due to confidentiality, I cannot share the outcome with you.

If you see this happen again, feel free to reply to this post with your new complaint ID so I can take a look.
