Manufacturer and Brand registered barcode confusion

Hi everyone. Need some help. If you are the manufacturer and are brand registered . Are you only to apply the manufacturer barcode to the product package? Amazon keeps sending videos and stuff to read. Nothing is answering this question. So we have put our manufacturer bar code on . Covered that up with the fnsku then realized the shipping workflow states manufacturer barcode. No other labeling needed yet the videos state differently. That everything needs a fnsku for tracking. We have packed and unpacked boxes each time changing the barcodes. This is also a new product on Amazon that no one is selling. Any info would be great! Thank you!

Hi @Seller_oafnHK8fuAkGh,

I understand your confusion about the barcode requirements. According to this help page, here's what you need to know:

First, check your barcode preference setting:

  • Go to Fulfillment by Amazon settings
  • Scroll to "FBA product barcode preference"
  • See whether it's set to manufacturer barcode (default) or Amazon barcode

If your product is eligible for manufacturer barcodes (new condition, single scannable UPC/EAN/ISBN matching your ASIN), and your workflow shows "manufacturer barcode, no other labeling needed" - then you should only use the manufacturer barcode, not the FNSKU.

If you prefer to use FNSKUs instead, you can change this in your settings, but note that this will opt you out of virtual tracking.

For the boxes you've already labeled with both barcodes, you'll want to remove the FNSKU if you're using manufacturer barcodes, or vice versa depending on your preference.

Kind regards, Michael
