Low inventory on Inactive (Closed) product
This morning I got a low inventory email for one of my products. It's an old version and I've closed it. But the email is saying I could incur low inventory fees on this??
Here's the email:
We’ve launched a new Minimum Inventory Level metric to help FBA sellers plan inventory levels more effectively, improve delivery speeds, and help them to avoid the recently announced low-inventory-level fee.
You're receiving this message because some of your Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) products don't have enough inventory to keep up with customer orders.
The following sample ASINs are at risk of running out of stock, incurring low-inventory-level fee, or resulting in degraded delivery speed to customers:

Well, yes, it IS out of stock; there is a new edition, which shows on the PDP.
Anyone have any idea what I am supposed to do to not be charged a low inventory for a CLOSED product??

At least based on the information that I've been able to get, the fee is charged ONLY when an item sells; so an item that is out of stock will not incur any fees.
I suspect the bot is just going crazy; Amazon apparently never considered the possibility that some items might be close-outs, or discontinued, or seasonal, or any other thing that might result in changes of sales, so didn't even think to program the bot to ignore anything where the inventory is zero.

I just got that e-mail too, listing 4 out of stock ASINS. I have not shipped anything to FBA in years and have no FBA listings.....

you misunderstand what this fee is... zero products means no fee...
this fee is only assessed and charged when you make a sale and inconvenience amazon with fulfilling it
when a product reaches low inventory and let us say you have products in California but there are no products in Hawaii...a Hawaiian orders your product... you are charged low inventory fee because your product moved a distance too far away from a close fulfillment center...
wasting amazon gas and time to fulfill that order in hawaii...
they make up these minimum levels to ensure that every customer in every region can get the item fast, within 1 or 2 days or even same day.... when you screw amazon by having 1 item in stock when you need 20 in stock... you will incur a fee to compensate for extra shipping and or gas.
amazon will not let you screw them, they will screw you back with the fee.

Yes delete all you FBA listings to avoid this charge. This may bee the plan by Amazon as we are still getting FBA items returning to stock and we have not shipped an FBA since early December and made sure 99.9% was sold out by end of January yet even week 1 or 2 units pop back up in inventory likely so they can charge low inventory fees on items that should not be in stock!!!!
