Gs1 upc versuses Amazon upc

discussion.we are new and have GS1 barcide because I read Amazon requires it. Now it's saying something about needing Amazon code on label. How do it get that and how do I add to my GS1 barcodes? We plan to do FBA. I just paid $250 for these barcodes.

The UPC codes help you list products in the Amazon catalog. They don't necessarily need to be on the product packaging themselves.

If you use FBA, you will have have to label each item with an Amazon FBA label, which looks very much like a UPC code but it is what Amazon uses to scan and track your merchandise in their warehouses.

If your packaging has UPC codes on them, I believe you can select a prep option for FBA whereas they use the UPC barcode to scan/receive your inventory instead of Amazon's FBA barcode. Just make sure the UPC identifier on the product listing matches the UPC on your packaging.

Also, I am a brand owner, registered with the USPTO and enrolled in Amazon's brand registry. I don't need GS1 UPCs because I've gotten UPC exemption for my brand on the Amazon platform...just an FYI.
