We, as sellers on Amazon, are suffering significantly due to the increasingly abusive return behavior by some customers. The fear of returns haunts most—if not all—sellers on the platform.
We fully respect Amazon's return policy and are not against returns in general. However, we are facing a troubling trend: products are often returned in used, dirty, damaged, or otherwise unacceptable conditions—despite their high cost to us as sellers.
Why are returned items not being inspected by delivery agents before being collected from customers? According to Amazon’s own return policy, customers are required to return products in their original packaging and in a condition suitable for resale.
While we continue to honor the buyer's right to return, it is becoming clear that some customers are intentionally using products and then returning them, which causes significant financial loss.
Moreover, when we submit SAFE-T claims, they are often rejected or approved with minimal compensation that doesn't even cover the product cost.
We urge Amazon to take stronger measures to ensure returned products are inspected and accepted only if they meet the return policy conditions. Returned items should be in a condition suitable for resale.
Please address this issue urgently for the sake of fairness and sustainability of sellers on the platform

I agree with above comments. We have faced similar situation, wherein the customer has damaged the item, which we cannot sate. Amazon should inspect return items.

AGREED WITH WHATEVER SELLER SAID TOTALLY UNFAIR. THERE IS A PRIME ONLY FOR AMAZON NOT FOR AMAZON SELLER. WE HAVE RECEIVED LOTS OF DAMAGEED ORDERS. I DONT KNOW SOME BUYER AS LIKE THEY USE THE PRODUCT AND SEND THEM BACK RECENTLY I HAVE RECEIVED A USED PRODUCT DIFFRENT FROM WHAT I SENT. Agree with these things , if Amazon has their own Policy where seller needs to accept return , then at least its the responsibibiltt of Amazon as well ,

- Is the product in same or original shape ?
- Is the package are same as seller has sent?
- If there is not proper reason , then what should be done next step?
I'm also little bit confused, mostly customer use COD pay method and unfortunately mostly of then didn't accept the Order .

Human behavior is expected to follow good moral values and ensure honesty in practice. Some people's careless attitude can hurt the business of any seller. Amazon must outline a policy to ensure the quality inspection of return product.

its very similar experience with me.. products with 15 days return window is a play ground for the customer, they order -> use -> return product
Return should be 3 days only from the delivery date, more then 3 days means customer will use n return

Your claims are justified and factual.
I have also received returns where the buyers have deliberately switched my branded watches worth Aed1500 with a fake cheap copy which doesn't even work.
On 4 such instances I have received only one full refund that too after so much interactions with the Safe-t team.
Other 3 such instance I hardly received anything.
One buyer ordered watches COD and rejected the delivery and then gave a negative feedback of fake products received when she didn't even take the delivery. Her negative feedback still stays even after several appeals to reverse it.
With due respect to buyers on Amazon, but some buyers take undue advantage to defame the sellers, somehow.

Totally agree. Many returns come back used or damaged, leaving sellers with heavy losses. Amazon should enforce its own policy and inspect items before accepting returns — otherwise abusive buyers will keep exploiting the system.
