What is a Smoke Alarm?

Smoke alarms: Smoke alarms issue a local audible or visual alarm to notify the presence of smoke as an indicator of fire. These products are typically found in homes.

Carbon monoxide alarms: Carbon monoxide alarms are intended to raise a local audible alarm before dangerous levels of carbon monoxide accumulate. Carbon monoxide alarms are intended to detect the presence of carbon monoxide from sources such as, but not limited to, exhaust from internal-combustion engines, abnormal operation of fuel-fired appliances, and fireplaces.

Combustible gas alarms: Combustible gas alarm are intended to raise a local audible alarm when detecting dangerous level of different sorts of combustible gases, natural gas (methane), bottled gas (propane), LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), LNG (liquefied natural gas), and coal gas.

Smoke detectors (in accordance with standard EN 54): Smoke detectors issue a signal to a fire alarm control panel, as part of a larger fire safety system, to notify the presence of smoke as an indicator of fire. These products are typically found in commercial environments. As these products are intended for professional use, should not be sold on Amazon.

What is Amazon’s policy on selling Smoke Alarms in the UAE?

If you are selling Smoke Alarms, you may be asked to provide documents to confirm the safety and compliance of your products. Amazon requires documentation that indicates testing compliance with standards or regulations for each product you are applying to sell.

What information do I need to provide to Amazon when requested?

Amazon’s policies require that Smoke Alarms sold through the Amazon website meet our certification standards . Have the following documents available at all times. If you are contacted by Amazon requesting documents, please submit the following information to mea-life-safety-equipment@amazon.ae

1. Your company name
2. Your vendor or seller ID
3. Your email address
4. Your phone number
5. A list of ASINs you are applying to sell
6. Confirm your products are intended for sale on amazon.ae
7. Clear product image that displays:
   • Product name or model number
   • Brand name
   • CE
   • UK Plug ( Type G )
   • Name and address of manufacturer or UAE based importer in case the manufacturer is based outside UAE
   • User manual in Arabic or English and Arabic languages
     Note: Any written warning/product manuals needs to be in Arabic, or Arabic and English.
8. EC Declaration of Conformity (or Declaration of Performance) issued by the manufacturer or the importer of the product to show compliance to regulations. Depending on the device’s features, these regulations should include, but may not be limited to:
   • Construction Products Regulation 305/2011 (applicable for battery operated)
   • LVD Directive 2014/35/EU with reference to EN 60950-1:2006 or EN 62368-1:2014 (applicable for plug in devices)
   • RED Directive 2014/53/EU (applicable for wireless smoke detectors)
   • Compliance to EN 14604 or EN 50291

What will happen if I do not follow Amazon’s policy on selling Smoke Alarms?

If you do not provide the required information, Amazon may:

• Cancel your listing
• Suspend your listing privileges
• Suppress your ASIN(s)

Amazon reserves the right to take any further actions that are necessary and to make judgements in its sole discretion about whether or not a listing is appropriate.

How do I request removal of my products from Amazon Fulfilment centers?

If you do not appeal the suppression on your ASIN(s) or your appeal is unsuccessful, you have 30 days to create removal orders on your products from our fulfillment centers from the day you receive the suppression notification, after which Amazon may dispose of your products.
